Tallinn: aiming and ship study
Tallinn is a cruiser with a citadel and a recorded twelve-gun 180 mm main battery. Study it both as a target for Bismarck and as the firing ship; those are different armor problems.

HE main battery: 12 guns, 180 mm; listed maximum shell damage 2,500; recorded reload 12.5 seconds. Maximum shell damage is not expected damage per hit.
AP main battery: 12 guns, 180 mm; listed maximum shell damage 4,650; recorded reload 12.5 seconds. Maximum shell damage is not expected damage per hit.
When should I switch away from a citadel aim point?
A ship’s orientation angle is not the same thing as the impact angle on every armor plate. This guide intentionally gives no universal angle window guaranteeing citadel damage.
Try this controlled aiming exercise
- Select Bismarck as attacker and Tallinn as target in the Ship Damage Trainer. Start broadside, then rotate the target while keeping range and ammunition fixed.
- Watch the target-region colors and read the explanation together. Use a citadel recommendation only for the current setup; if the feedback recommends another region, compare that region before firing.
- Repeat at a different range. A recommendation from one range must not be assumed to hold at every distance.
- Select Tallinn as attacker and compare its AP and HE against the same target. Note the change in caliber and displayed outcome rather than reusing Bismarck’s result.
Open the Ship Damage Trainer → Select the ships in its controls. Some guidance requires Pro; this public guide does not unlock paid tools.
